The Tracey's Damselfish is known for its unique colouration. It combines a striking purple colour at the front of the body and face with canary yellow at the rear. These colours are highlighted by shades of pink and orange. It has a black spot towards the rear of the dorsal fin. Dorsal, anal, and tailfin are all translucent. This is a small species with adults reaching a length of 1 3/4 inches (4.4 centimetres).
There isn't a lot of information about breeding this species in captivity. Wild specimens are oviparous. The male and female will pair up for breeding. After spawning, the eggs will stick to the substrate. The male will protect the eggs and aerate them.
This is a Western-Pacific species, found around the Marshall and Caroline Islands. There is a possibility it may also inhabit the Philippines. Its natural environment is in lagoons and on reefs between depths of 5-40 metres.
