GIANT DANIO

The giant danio is one of the most active and best schooling fish you will see in your aquarium! Whilst most danio species max out at around 5 cm the giant danio will easily double that reaching around 10cm making it a great schooling fish for aquariums with larger fish. The giant danio shines with its simplicity of color, the amber body with stripes and blotches of a honey gold bright blue makes it stand out really well. The giant danio is also a very hardy and versatile beginner fish being suitable for cooler climates and also tropical aquariums.  Along with that they are very peaceful fish and get along great in mixed community aquariums. Trying to find the males and females in giant danios is somewhat difficult when they are small but once they get larger the males tend to have a very torpedo-like shape whereas females have a more curved belly. The giant danio is easy to breed and is known as an egg scattering fish. The wild habitat for giant danios is the rivers of south India and Bangladesh

Tank Recommendations for your Giant Danios

The giant danio is a very active fish that needs a tank that is at least 100 liters (26 gallons) and around 2 feet minimum width. The substrate is not of great importance for these fish but a lot of plants would be greatly appreciated along with a tight-fitting lid because giant danios are prolific jumpers.
