The RedFin Black Spot Barb is an extremely amazing looking fish. The colors on this fish are phenomenal with an iridescent green, gold, and silver. The most beautiful thing about these barbs is the fact that they have amazing extensions that grow of their fins which has also earned them the name filament barb because of the stinking filaments flow with the movement of this fish.  The redfin black spot barb is an extremely active species and is one of the best medium-sized tight schooling species which would make an amazing addition to a large community aquarium. This is a very underrated species and not commonly known but it is a wonderful alternative to species such as tinfoil barbs or torpedo barbs. Trying to find the males and females in this species is possible where adult males have longer fin trails and females tend to have a much more rounded and plump body. This barb species would do best with other community fish such as gourami, tetras, and corydoras. Being a barb species, the redfin black spot barb is naturally found in south India and Bangladesh. 

Tank Recommendations for your Red Fin Black Spot Barb
The redfin black spot barb needs a tank of around 65 gallons (246 liters) as they are very active and a species that does get to around 15cm. This makes them great for large display community aquariums that are 4 feet long as a minimum. A sand substrate is advisable as these cichlids actively will sift through the sand looking for food. They will also love a densely planted aquarium as well. This species is most active during the day when the lights are on.

Feeding your Red Fin Black Spot Barb

The RedFin Black Spot is an omnivore and they will readily prefer meaty and green foods. They will consume a wide range of dry and frozen foods. Their diet should contain good quality sinking pellets or flake and be supplemented with frozen food and spirulina based foods. Feeding should occur once a day and it is best to do so when the lights are on during the day.
