Blue Marble Angelfish

The Blue Marble Angelfish is a lovely freshwater angelfish variety that showcases an unpredictable and artistic pattern across its body with no two individuals being the same. With swirls of black, silver, and iridescent blue scattered across a tall frame, they're a fantastic centrepiece for planted aquariums or community tanks where their marbled appearance can take centre stage.

These angelfish can grow to around 15 cm in length and over 20 cm in height, including their trailing fins. The hallmark of this variety is its distinctive marbled patterning, which combines inky black patches with shimmering silver and blue tones that shimmer under aquarium lighting. Some individuals may also carry the pearlscale gene, enhancing their iridescence with textured, reflective scales across the body and fins. Their patterning continues to intensify with age, diet, and proper care, making them a joy to grow out and watch mature

Breeding Blue Marble Angelfish is relatively simple in a dedicated setup. They pair off naturally when raised in groups, and will typically lay adhesive eggs on vertical surfaces like broad plant leaves or glass. Once bonded, a pair may spawn regularly and can be conditioned with protein-rich foods to improve spawning success.

Tank Recommendations for your Blue Marble Angelfish

Due to their tall body shape and territorial nature during spawning, a minimum tank size of 100 litres is recommended. A well-planted aquarium with vertical structures such as driftwood and Amazon swords will provide both comfort and suitable breeding surfaces.

Sand or fine gravel substrates are ideal, and water should be kept clean and soft with stable temperatures around 24-26°C.

Suitable Tank Buddies

The Blue Marble Angelfish is fairly peaceful, with aggression only ever coming out during breeding males however, they may eat very small fish fry and shrimp. With adequate space, these fish will get along with a wide range of community fish. It has, however, been noted that angelfish can possibly be aggressive against fish species that look similar.

Feeding your Blue Marble Angelfish
Angelfish, in general, are a very easy species to feed that will take a wide range of aquarium foods like pellets or flakes. They are naturally omnivores that feed on plant matter like algae, small insects, and crustaceans. This means a well-balanced aquarium food that has good protein and green content would be best.
