An adult can grow 90cm to 110cm, be sure to have a large enough aquarium to house them, the females do grow larger than the males.
They are carnivorous fish, eating crustaceans, fish, frogs, and even small birds once they are at full size.
Living in Freshwater, as they reach maturity in the wild it is known for them to move towards the brackish/ Saltwater to breed.
A uniformly olive to a golden-brown eel with a paler belly, but are known to be in a range of colors consisting of Grey, Green, and Brown. The origins of the dorsal and anal fins are roughly in line.
They are generally timid and harmless but be aware they can bite.
It is native to the lakes, dams, and coastal rivers of south-eastern Australia, New Zealand, and much of the South Pacific, including New Caledonia, Norfolk Island, Lord Howe Island, Tahiti, and Fiji.
