Black Shark

Black Shark 5cm

Labeo Chrysophekadion
Rating:
90% of 100

The black shark is one of the coolest species available in the aquarium hobby. It gets to gargantuan sizes, has a daily mean demeanor, and is an amazing addition to a large predator fish aquarium. Though there are lots of fish in the aquarium hobby that have bright and flashy colors, the most striking thing with this fish is that it is jet black but has a typical shark-style body shape. This fish would be a great fish to add to a predator fish tank to ensure that the substrate is well turned and algae stay minimal.

  2. Happy and healthy black shark.
    100%
The black shark arrived extremely well packaged and healthy. The fish is very active and swims freely and interacts well with the other fish in the aquarium. I would have no hesitation in buying further stock from you or recommending your company to people I know. I am very happy with my fish and it arrived quite fast and in perfect health. Thank you.

  3. boss of the tank

We have two black sharks, brought specifically for a large community tank because we knew they would grow to 2 foot plus. Both were smaller than my silver tip tetras when we brought them in april 2012. One (I suspect the female) is about 30cm long now the other about a third that (probably the male). I find that they are a bit of a grumpy fish but not too aggressive that they would be ruled out of a community tank. Don't buy if you're going to keep them in a small tank ... you need a 6ft plus tank for these guys. As we are still waiting for their 6ft tank they are being kept in a 2 and a half foot tank and the size of this tank is not limiting their growth. They eat anything and everything, they are great algae eaters so my community tank at present is very clean. I love them ... when well looked after they are a beautiful velvet black and very graceful. Also grow very very fast ... We have had ours six months and one is already halfway to full grown. Did not expect them to grow at that speed.

  7. Big Fish
    60%
My Black shark is about 7 years old now and over a foot long, He unfortunately is territorial to the two foot long ghost knife fish and chases them when they are playing.
He constantly chases my clown loaches and does not like new fish in the tank. For this reason I have to sell him but no one will take him because he is too big.

  8. UPDATE
    100%
UPDATE.. well I have an update on my mate Jaws. Well he's now over 20cm, and I had to move him out of my community tank, he became a bit fin nippy! So Jaws is now living with my Oscar Hannibal and loving it. Jaws has gone through a recent growth spourt and grew a couple of cms in a couple of weeks, really amazing, never seen anything like it, I thought Oscars grew quick, nothing on this dude!
I would recommend these guys to anyone who has the space for them and who want a very interesting fish, they also make good vacuums!
