Gouramis are peaceful fish that do well in most community aquaria. They require a tank that is 40 litres or larger. They are usually found swimming in the middle to top regions of the aquarium. This is not surprising since the Gourami is a labyrinth fish. That is, Gouramis can breathe oxygen from the air through their Labyrinth (organ) (like the Betta) if necessary. It is important, therefore that the surface of the water be exposed to fresh air. This is usually accomplished by using a hood that allows air ventilation. If you are using good air pumps, this is not always needed, since the air pumps will refresh the air above the water. Gouramis live for about four years but with proper care can live longer.

Beautiful gentle fishI cant understand how anyone would think these fish are boring looking. The females are just as bright as the males and are 1000x less aggressive. They were very happy to be out of the bag once acclimated and fit in very quickly. They love aquatic plants and are absolutely stunning. They shimmer a vibrant blue/silver and really add a lot of energy and vibrancy to the tank.

Pretty little fishyShe arrived healthy and colourful. She took less than 5 mins to settle into my planted comunity tank and got started picking away at the plants and substrate by cleaning up what ever interested her. Just a gorgeous little fish.

My second order...Unfortunately, despite my rave review of this little fish last time she passed away only a few days after arriving in the tank. I put this down to the 48hours in a cold bag, as initially she was happy in the new warm tank but then just went downhill and didn't ever recover...
Was upset about her loss and left it a few weeks before I tried again, I ordered two more females but unfortunately only received one. Again Startrack let us down with a 2 day delivery, but with warmer weather the water wasn't ice cold this time and the new fish seemed to be recovering well once acclimatised. It's been a few days now and she is still doing really well, very healthy looking and zooming all over her new tank.
Highly recommend this female version of the dwarf gourami as has equally as beautiful colouring as the male. Happy with my purchase, thanks again Livefish!Posted on

Very happy with her...Although I suspect this picture is actually of a male coral blue dwarf gourami, the female I received looks equally as colourful. She is so cute, much smaller than my male coral blue and very hardy indeed. She arrived after a very long delayed 48hour travel time in freezing cold water during a cold spring snap we had, yet there she was still alive and even retained most of her colour. She was happy to get into our community tank, although was a little shy at first she is now swimming bravely with the others and is now equally as colourful as the male. So far my male has been inquisitive and welcoming of her... Highly recommend this little fish :)
