The Odessa barb is a highly underrated species that is honestly such a stunning fish once it establishes in the aquarium. the simplistic but elegant look of this fish and the size it grows to make it a perfect candidate for a nice planted aquarium. They are often overlooked as juveniles due to their full colours but the Odessa barb truly ages like a fine wine in the aquarium as it matures. This species of barb is also a super hardy fish that can thrive in a range of temperatures and water parameters which is why it is a great beginner option.

Great colours and patterning6 of these guys (and 5 Checker barbs) arrived this morning to add to a barb tank with 9 fully grown Rosy barbs. Was a little worried about the size difference and the older ones bullying the new inhabitants, but as they are in a large group they aren't being too aggressive. It's only been around 12 hours but they are starting to colour up nicely.

beautifula beautiful looking fish, very boisterous and an excellent addition to my community tank.these fish are fairly peaceful, will not harass smaller fish and are not too aggressive at feeding time.ensure there is plenty of open swimming space for them around the middle and bottom sections of the tank, good plant cover and you will be rewarded with a fish that is full of character and has amazing coloration..definitely recommend these fish

Beautiful but boisterous.Fantastic addition to larger size tank of 400litres plus. Highly recommend 6+. Settled almost immediately in to tank. Would not mix with timid species, not because of aggression but they are just always on the go.
