A bright red head and a boldly patterned tail are the standout features of this very popular community fish. Best seen as a school in a planted aquarium with a dark background. Rummynose prefers soft slightly acidic water, their colour may appear washed out if kept in hard water or if the pH is high.

Perect for Community TankThese are brilliant. I bought 5 and will be getting more. Arrived healthy but colourless. Within a minute of joining tank developed bright red tip on the head and black and white vivid stripes on tail. Cruise around with my Glowlight tetras but probably shoal with any tetra species

Immediate SchoolersAlways buy more than 5 of these - they school well and are busy doing laps in the tank very quickly. Great feeders - the batch I bought fed within 2 hours and again that night. Colour was washed out when they first arrived - but they always take a day or so to really settle. Heavily planted / timbered aquarium is best for them - need clean water to show their colours most strongly. Excellent fish! Have a school now of 8 along with 15 Cardinals and some Red Phantom Tetras. All interact together well and leave each other alone as far as feeding time goes.

So impressed I have a second order! This is my second order of these striking looking fish. Out of all of the fish in my tanks, these are the only ones I have found that truly school. It's amazing to watch and very pretty. My first order was for 5 in a 200 L tank, this order was for a school of 12 for a 360L and they look, as expected, amazing! They will be a great addition for my discus, yet to come...

Rummy nose Rock! These are simply delightful as they swim to and fro across the front of my tank in their little school. Their bright red, shiny white and black barred tail really look flash. I would order more but I know they are going to grow bigger before too long. I recommend these to anyone with a 100L or more tank.

Wow......greatThese guys are great, arrived yesterday with almost no colour but within 15 minutes of release into the tank they had coloured up! They are like little olympic swimmers going up & down in their striped bathing trunks. Very cute!

Very HappyExtremely happy with my first fish order from Live Fish, love these little guys. Shy to start with but extremely healthy specimens. Will definitely use Live Fish to order fish again.

Variants from other tetrasThese little guys like to hang around other small tetras. They are very shy in my tank as I have larger fish roaming around (gouramis, blackwidows, sharks etc)
Nice red head with a defined black striped tail.
Unfortunately, two of these rummy-noses didn't make the trip from QLD to VIC due to the recent 'record' cold weather (since the 1970s - 2nd week of May 2011) but the other fish were fine.
slightly discoloured on arrival, they have increased in colour over the last 2 days.
Bottom dwelling fish - peacefully scared of other fish.Posted on

fantastic little fish. These are my favourite fish, due their playful natue and colours. They arrived in fantastic condition and adjusted from their trip superbly. They have come out in colour and began swimming around and playing around, which is extremely rare for this fish - as their stress usually has them colourless for two weeks. Thanks

excellentGotta love these tetras! Just note that when they arrive they are very white from stress, but just drip acclimate them and they will be fine.
