The Pintail Fairy Wrasse is a beautiful combination of colours. Its body is a blend of orange and yellow, with darker pink lines. The fins are a translucent yellow colour. Colours vary depending on mood and the male's colour will intensify during courting.
The Pintail Fairy Wrasse is hermaphroditic. The largest female in a group will change sex if the dominant male dies and needs replacing.
Their natural environment is in the Western-Pacific. Including Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan, and Taiwan. They inhabit reefs over rubble and rockwork.

The Pintail Fairy Wrasse can be housed in a reef or fish-only aquarium. They aren't a threat to corals or invertebrates. A suitable tank should contain plenty of rubble, rockwork, and crevices for them to hide.
A tight canopy should cover the top of the tank as this species is capable of jumping out of the tank.

The Pin Tailed Fairy Wrasse is peaceful but may be aggressive with conspecifics. They aren't as boisterous and outgoing as other wrasse species such as Flasher Wrasse. There might be problems with aggression if they are housed together.
A male can cohabit with females if the females are introduced before, or at the same time, as the male.

Large semi-aggressive fish like Angelfish and Tangs may threaten the Pintail Fairy Wrasse. This can lead to them hiding and stopping eating.
