Dwarf Loach has a distinctive appearance, with a compact torpedo-like body shape. Their body colour is split horizontally split by a jet-black lateral line, the top half has a bronze-gold metallic sheen and the bottom is contrasted by a pearl white. From just before the dorsal fin to the tail there are five characteristic black bars that really define the dwarf loach and make it easily recognizable. Dwarf loaches are known for their playful and active nature, especially when kept in a group, making them a great addition to any aquarium.
Breeding Dwarf Loach can be challenging as they are difficult to differentiate between males and females however there can be some subtle signs. Males tend to have a slightly more elongated body shape, while females are rounder. These fish require specific water conditions to spawn, and breeding success is relatively low in captivity.
Tank Recommendations for your Dwarf Loach - Sidthimunki
Because of just how active these fish can be in the aquarium and the fact that they must be kept in a school, the minimum aquarium volume would be around 120 liters. An aquarium with a larger footprint really helps these bottom dwellers. It is important to provide plenty of hiding spaces through the use of driftwood or plants and a sandy substrate since they like to burrow. Water parameters should be kept at a pH range of 6.5 to 7.5, with a water temperature range of 24 to 26 degrees Celsius.
Suitable Tank Buddies
