Corydoras have earned a reputation as one of the hardest-working fish in the aquarium hobby, constantly patrolling the bottom of the aquarium in search of food while bringing endless personality to community tanks. Wild-caught CW169 is a much less common variety that appeals to collectors thanks to its unique patterning and natural behaviour. Like many wild corydoras, these fish display slightly more vibrant colours and stronger schooling instincts than many commercially bred species.

CW169 displays a beautiful silver to creamy white body covered with irregular charcoal markings that create a broken network across the body. Depending on the individual, these markings can range from bold patches to finer reticulated patterns, meaning no two fish look exactly alike. Their transparent fins carry subtle smoky highlights, while the classic corydoras body shape and constantly moving barbels make them endlessly entertaining to watch. Kept in larger groups, they spend much of the day shoaling together as they work methodically across the substrate.

Sexing follows the typical corydoras pattern, with mature females developing a noticeably broader body than males when viewed from above. Like other Corydoras species, breeding usually occurs after cooler water changes, with pairs entering the classic T-position before adhesive eggs are placed on plants, glass, or décor throughout the aquarium.

Tank Recommendations for your Corydoras CW169

These fish should always be maintained in groups of six or more, with larger schools producing much more natural behaviour. A minimum aquarium size of 60 litres is recommended. A soft sandy substrate is strongly recommended to protect their delicate barbels while allowing them to naturally sift through the substrate. Driftwood, leaf litter, and planted areas help recreate their natural environment and encourage confident behaviour.

Usually Compatible
Neon tetras, cardinal tetras, rummynose tetras, rasboras, dwarf cichlids, angelfish, rainbowfish, and almost any peaceful community fish that occupy the upper water column.

Sometimes Compatible
Shrimp and other small bottom dwellers can usually coexist successfully, although additional food should be provided to reduce competition.

Rarely Compatible
Large cichlids, predatory catfish, or aggressive fish that may continually harass the corydoras or prevent them from feeding comfortably.

Feeding your Corydoras CW169

CW169 Corydoras spend much of their day searching the substrate for food, but still require regular feeding. A quality sinking pellet or wafer should form the basis of their diet, supplemented with frozen bloodworms, blackworms, and baby brine shrimp to maintain excellent health and encourage breeding.
