Assorted Ramirezi Longfin

Ramirezi, often referred to as German Blue Rams, are one of the most colourful dwarf cichlids available in the aquarium hobby. The longfin variety takes the beauty of this species even further, developing extended, flowing fins that add elegance and movement to the aquarium.

Longfin ramirezi display vibrant colours that include electric blues, bright yellows, and flashes of red across the fins and face. Their elongated dorsal and caudal fins give them a more dramatic appearance compared to standard ram varieties. Under aquarium lighting, the metallic blue scales shimmer beautifully, making them a standout centrepiece fish in planted aquariums.

Sexing ramirezi can be done by observing the dorsal fin rays and colouration. Males typically have longer dorsal rays and more pointed fins, while females may display a pinkish belly when mature. When breeding, ramirezi form pairs and lay eggs on flat surfaces such as stones or leaves.

Tank Recommendations for Your Assorted Ramirezi Longfin

Ramirezi prefer warm, stable aquariums with plenty of plant cover. A minimum tank size of 60 litres is recommended for a pair or small group. A soft substrate such as sand, combined with driftwood and plants, creates an ideal environment for these fish.
