The API AMMONIA TEST KIT is a mercury-free, salicylate test for fresh and saltwater fish, and measures ammonia levels from 0 to 8 ppm.

Ammonia can be a real issue in your Aquarium. Tropical fish produce ammonia constantly with urine, solid waste and even from the gills. Uneaten food and organic matter can also attribute to the ammonia levels rising in the water. The smallest amount of ammonia in the water can be stressful and detrimental to the fish health. Ammonia is one of the top issues for deaths in tropical fish tanks as it can go unnoticed until it is too late. Regular water testing (for all water chemistry) is always advised, ammonia is highly recommended for a new tank set up, or when adding new fish to an existing Aquarium. This ammonia test will test the levels between 0 to 8 ppm. - Is it correct for the #2 bottle in the API AMMONIA TEST KIT to have a slightly bigger hole in the spout than the #1 does? I’m concerned my test kit isn’t accurate because of this.
- The dropper tips are all the same, but the viscosity of the liquids are different. Drops may appear to be larger coming out due to the thickness of the drop.
