They make a fantastic centrepiece for planted community aquariums and are equally suited to both beginner and experienced hobbyists.
The Albino Red Cap Angelfish displays a brilliant pearly white body thanks to its albino genetics, completely lacking the traditional black vertical barring seen in wild angelfish. The defining feature is the vivid orange-to-crimson "red cap" that develops across the forehead and upper body, creating a beautiful contrast against the clean white body. Their translucent, flowing fins further enhance this elegant appearance, while the red eyes associated with albino strains make these fish even more distinctive. In a planted aquarium with darker décor or a black background, the bright white body and vibrant red head become even more eye-catching.
Sexing angelfish is relatively difficult, especially when young, as males and females look very similar. As they mature, compatible pairs will naturally form and begin spawning on broad leaves, driftwood, or aquarium glass. Both parents usually take part in guarding the eggs and newly hatched fry, making them an enjoyable species for hobbyists interested in breeding cichlids.
Tank Recommendations for your Albino Red Cap Angelfish
Angelfish are taller-bodied fish and require aquariums with both height and length. A minimum aquarium size of 150 litres is recommended, with larger aquariums always preferred.
They thrive in planted aquariums with open swimming space and vertical structures such as driftwood or taller plants. A darker background or black substrate works particularly well with this strain, allowing the brilliant white body and vibrant red cap to become the focal point of the aquarium.
