Sarawak Rasbora only reach around 5 cm which makes the fantastic fish for both small and large aquariums. Whilst they lack a lot of vibrant colours they are the perfect blend of complimentary and contrasting colours. The body colour of Sarawak Rasbora is a unique golden brown colour almost resembling caramel. This has some brighter streaks of gold which are complimented by the metallic dark blue stripe that runs across the body. This golden colour lends them to be great fish to keep in a blackwater aquarium setting or to keep against plants purely because of the contrast they provide.
Breeding Sarawak Rasbora is relatively simple, as they follow a similar pattern to other tetra and Rasbora species. Providing a separate breeding tank with fine-leaved plants or a spawning mop will encourage the female to scatter her eggs. The male will fertilise the eggs, but neither parent will protect the eggs or fry them. It is essential to remove the adult fish after spawning to prevent them from eating the eggs or young fish.
