Rainbowfish are arguably the fish that put Australia on the map, what’s fascinating about them is that a single species can have dozens of naturally occurring colour variations. These are a result of slightly different genetic groups due to differences in geographical location, one amazing example of this is the Oyster Creek Rainbowfish from the species Melanotaenia Duboulayi. For the rainbow fish enthusiasts out there, this is a new colour form of Melanotaenia Duboulayi rainbow and is probably the most northern found Duboulayi rainbow.

All GoodThankyou again received my fish, all healthy. All are a good size, and should colour up soon. I think getting fish in the mail so to speak sounds crazy but I believe they can handle anything without stress.

the ugly duckling of the fish world.the shipment arrived on time in good health,I have reviews as far away as south america that appreciate these fish,be patient they take time to reach there full potential, these fish are very active active fish like tetras which I purchased 50 cardinals in the one tank with no problems the rainbows have all ready turned silver head with the rear flank turning pail yellow with pink tails,be patient and they will reward you with there colour I am keeping the ph at around 7.2 to 7.4 because of the tetras,to get the full colours out of these fish you need provide a large verity of fish food. like blood worms brine shrimp tropical mix as well as several different dry foods to bring out the full colour 13/5/14

WowI am so supprised at how beautiful these fish are, even at the small size they are at they are rather colourful and lively. I have them in with Lake Kutubu Rainbows that are the same size and the Oyster Creek Rainbows are certainly more attractive at the moment. They only took a few hours to colour up, at the moment they are prodomenatly blue, green and red, yet to see any yellow although I have only had them a day! Very active fish and a little gem. The pictures above does not do them justice.

Little BeautiesThey arrive almost white but when they do colour up they are a real gem. I liked them so much I added another 4 to my school.
Being such an active fish I wouldn't put these guys in anything less then a 4 foot tank. And a planted tank encourages them to colourup, mine are already spawning.
Great fish!Posted on
