Pair Red Chili Endler Guppy

When it comes to colourful nano fish, Endler Guppies are some of the most sought-after species in the aquarium hobby. Their bright colours, ease of care, and lively personalities make them a fantastic choice for aquarists of all experience levels. The Red Chili Endler Guppy is an eye-catching and high-energy variety, known for its intense red markings and intricate patterning. This pair includes one male and one female, making it a perfect starting point for aquarists interested in breeding or maintaining a genetically strong colour strain.

The Red Chili Endler Guppy lives up to its name, with a fiery red stripe that runs along its sleek body, complemented by iridescent greens, blues, and hints of black. The contrast between these colours makes them look like a living ember as they dart around the aquarium. Males are small, streamlined, and display the most vibrant colours, while females are larger with a more subdued golden-silver body and faint red highlights in the tail. These fish stand out beautifully in both planted and hardscape-only aquariums, bringing constant movement and visual appeal.

Breeding Red Chili Endler Guppies is incredibly easy, as they are livebearers that give birth to fully formed, free-swimming fry instead of laying eggs. A single female can produce dozens of fry every few weeks, making them a great choice for aquarists looking to raise and selectively breed high-quality Endlers. To maintain strong colouration and good genetic health, selecting the best offspring for future breeding is recommended. A well-planted aquarium with floating plants or dense vegetation will provide the fry with plenty of hiding spots to increase survival rates.

Tank Recommendations for Pair Red Chili Endler Guppy

As a small and easy-to-care-for species, a minimum tank size of 40 litres is recommended for this pair. A sand or gravel substrate works well, but the key to keeping Endlers happy is plenty of plants, which provide cover and contrast beautifully against their bright colours. Since guppies prefer slightly harder water, a pH between 7.0-8.0 is ideal, and using a buffer or cichlid salts can help maintain stability. These fish also love gentle water flow, so a sponge filter or low-flow filter setup is ideal.

Suitable Tank Buddies

Red Chili Endler Guppies are peaceful and highly compatible with a wide range of small community fish that share similar water conditions. However, due to their small size and flowing fins, tank mates should be carefully selected to avoid aggression or fin-nipping.

Usually Compatible

Pseudomogil species (Forktail Rainbows, Blue Eyes), Ricefish, White Cloud Mountain Minnows, and other hardwater-tolerant nano fish.

Sometimes Compatible

Medium growing or possibly fin nipping species. Bettas should also be avoided because of their similar flashy nature to guppies which could lead to aggression from the bettas end.

Rarely Compatible

Large and aggressive species which would prey on the guppies such as oscars, or jaguar cichlids.

Feeding your Pair Red Chili Endler Guppy

The Red Chili Endler Guppy is very easy to feed once it is settled into the aquarium. It will readily eat a wide range of foods but would prefer to have high a floating nano pellet or flake due to their top dwelling behaviour. Giving them a nutritional food with a good protein and varied ingredients will help maintain their bright red colours and overall health.
