These amazing freshwater spiny crayfish are native to the protected national park ranges and hill tops of south eastern Queensland, predominantly the Lamington and Springbrook National Parks. As juveniles of less than 1 year old they are relatively dull in colour ranging from a rusty brown to an olive green colouration. In captivity at between 1 to 1.5 years of age they malt to reveal an amazingly vibrant blue colouration with distinctive white on their forehead and upper ridge of their tail. These distinctive colours is what many have come to associate with the amazing Lamington Spiny crayfish. E. sulcatus live for in excess of 30 years and grow to a touch over 30cm from head to tail (excluding claws).
Until now there has been no legal source of these amazing crayfish in captivity. We now have access to a world first aqucultured supply of E. sulcatus. The crayfish are now 1 year old (captive bred) and 5-7cm in size.
