This species can reach up to 32 cm and can live more than 7 years given the right water and tank conditions. Enjoys soft neutral to slightly acidic water: 23C - 28C pH: 6.8- 7.4 General Hardness less than 200ppm Dolphin Fish are carnivorous They love to eat insects, small crustaceans, and smaller fish in the wild. For this reason, it is recommended to give them a mixture of live foods such as Daphnia, Brine Shrimp, meaty frozen foods, worms, and feeder fish to enjoy.
They will also eat small pellets, peas, earthworms, and frozen community fish foods. They are peaceful fish that needs peaceful community tank mates. It is best not to keep them with small fish 4cm or under as they are predatory and these fish may become lunch. It is also recommended they not be kept with their species as they will show aggression to their kind in a small tank.
