Blacktop Corydoras have a very natural and earthy colour palette with the main body tone being a white sandy hue. The face region has a stunning blend of iridescent greens, blues, and golds which is all contrasted by an array of black spots from head to tail. The reason these fish get the name black top Corydoras is because of the stark black dorsal fin tip which makes these fish very easy to spot. To replicate these conditions, a minimum tank size of 75 litres is recommended for a small group. These Corydoras are sociable creatures that thrive in groups of six or more, which helps to promote natural behaviours and reduce stress. The tank should have a soft substrate to protect their delicate barbels and allow for natural foraging behaviour.

Suitable Tank Buddies
The peaceful nature of the Blacktop Corydoras makes them compatible with a wide variety of tank mates. They are best housed with other peaceful fish that do not compete aggressively for food.

Usually Compatible
Small to medium-sized tetras, rasboras, dwarf gouramis, and other peaceful community fish. Snails and shrimp can also make good tank mates, provided they are not small enough to be mistaken for food.
