The most captivating feature of the Albino Congo Tetra is its ethereal shimmer. A pearly white base stretches across the body, often catching flashes of gold, pink, or opal blue under the right lighting. Their flowing dorsal and caudal fins are semi-transparent with a faint yellow tinge, almost trailing behind them like fine silk as they swim. Their red-pink eyes and elongated fin rays further distinguish them from the standard Congo variant. Breeding Albino Congo Tetras is achievable in home aquariums with patience and the right setup. Once spawning begins, males will shimmer and display to females before scattering eggs. Adults should be removed post-spawning to avoid egg predation. Fry hatch within a few days and can be fed infusoria or specialised fry food until they are large enough for baby brine shrimp.

Tank Recommendations for Your Albino Congo Tetra

As a mid-sized schooling species that can reach up to 8–9 cm, a minimum tank size of 100 litres is recommended. A long tank with open swimming space is ideal, balanced with dense plant cover and gentle filtration. These tetras do best in soft, slightly acidic to neutral water with temperatures between 24–27°C and a pH of 6.0–7.5. A dark substrate and background can further enhance their white colour. Ensure the tank is peaceful and free of fin-nipping tank mates to avoid damage to their flowing fins.
