Blue Flasher Wrasses brighten up aquariums with their brilliant colouration and impressive finnage. As one of the more active fish in an aquarium, its behaviour can have a positive impact on some of the quieter fish that live with them.

The Blue Flasher Wrasse is from Indonesia, the Central Pacific, Togean Islands, Sulawesi and Derawan Island. They are usually found around reefs, as this offers them many rocky crevices to go back to if they’re threatened. If there is not any danger present they prefer to occupy open water nearby.

Blue Flasher Wrasse has a maximum length of 8 cm (3 inches).

Tank Recommendations for the Blue Flasher Wrasse

Smallest tank size is usually recommended at 208 litres (55 gallons).

A jump guard or sealed lid is a must, as it may try to escape.

Suitable Tank Buddies

The Blue Flasher Wrasse doesn’t have issues with other small fish or invertebrates. It is a positive addition to a reef environment.

The only real issues with the Blue Flasher Wrasse are if it gets targeted by bigger more aggressive fish. It does not generally cause problems to other small fish. It won't mix well with similar-looking Wrasses though.

It may eat small shrimp, so as a precaution it is a good idea to ensure shrimp have grown to a medium size before adding Blue Flasher Wrasse to an aquarium.

Rarely Compatible

As are combative species in smaller aquariums like aggressive damsels. If they’re harassed when introduced to a tank, they will hide and may never come out to feed.

Feeding Your Blue Flasher Wrasse

They feed on zooplankton and don’t seem to be particularly fussy, but need a varied diet to take care of their colouration and ensure healthiness.

Blue Flasher Wrasse enjoy a staple diet of prepared frozen food and chopped seafood. Food with added pigments and amino acids are especially beneficial. They will also eat flake foods and brine shrimp but sustaining them on this isn't recommended. You should feed Wrasse Blue Flasher 2-3 times a day to keep up weight.
