Betta Peaceful

The betta Imbellis is one of the first wild betta species that aquarists will find themselves getting when entering the world of wild bettas. These striking betta species have incredible colours, and bold personalities and are a great breeding or wild biotope display project for dedicated aquarists. These fish also make a great alternative to plainer-looking wild bettas and even the common betta splendens.

The betta Imbellis is arguably far more stunning in comparison to man-made betta strains. These fish really age like fine wine with their bright neon blue scales overlaid on a black body along with the blood-red fins. The star-like pattern on the tail fin and white-tipped pelvic fins are just some of the highlights of this species. What’s even more stunning in this species is that they can sometimes sport a silver or green tone to them as well.

The betta Imbellis is a species that really does and looks best in a dedicated aquarium setting. Breeding these fish in captivity is an incredibly fun process and will be very rewarding, it will also be a great way to spread an underrated fish in the aquarium hobby. Males build bubble nests at the surface of the water and entice the females to lay their eggs in the nest. After spawning, the male Betta will guard the eggs and newly hatched fry until they are strong enough to swim on their own.

Tank Recommendations for your Betta Peaceful
The aquarium conditions for betta Imbellis are not all that hard to do and these fish can be kept in a very simple setup. As these fish reach around 5 cm long an aquarium volume of 50 litres would be great. Using an aqua soil or low PH buffering substrate with driftwood, botanicals, and plants with a sponge filter would be a perfect setup for them. These are tropical fish as well so a 24 - 26 degree temperature range will be perfect.

Suitable Tank Buddies
Ideally, it is best to keep these fish in a species-only environment however they are very peaceful fish and will get along with a range of nanofish. The Imbellis part of their name translates to ‘peaceful’ which is why these fish are called betta peaceful!

Feeding your Betta Peaceful
Betta Imbellis can be incredibly shy when first introduced into the aquarium. Because of this, there should be a range of foods ready to go in order to entice them to eat. They should however take to flakes and nano pellets quite easily once settled into the aquarium. They can also be supplemented with frozen foods like mysis shrimp or live foods like brine shrimp.
