Altum Angelfish 4cm

Great question. 'True' altums are where both parents are altum angels, where the species has a scientific name of Pterophyllum altum. Historically, these have only been made available from wild collection. Breeding these angels is quite challenging and initially successful breeding occurred where one parent was an altum angel and the other parent was a 'normal' angel (scientific name Pterophyllum scalare). Since those early times and with increased understanding of these fish, breeding altums 'true' has now become more successful. These fish are still considered rare and challenging to breed and as such the breeders still command a relatively high price compared to the normal angelfish type
