The Temmincki Fairy Wrasse is a lovely and energetic fairy wrasse. Temmincki Fairy Wrasse has a mainly blue body with pink dorsal fins. Male Temmincki Fairy Wrasses can become exceedingly flamboyant and bright with powerful reds and pinks when they reach their terminal phase, whilst females have a bland tint.

Like other wrasses, the Temmincki Fairy Wrasses swim with the assistance of their pectoral fins. These fish, on the other hand, have a few distinguishing characteristics. When you look at their eyes, you'll find that they have a double pupil, which is caused by their cornea being separated into two pieces. Their teeth are the next distinguishing feature. Their carnivorous diet is aided by their teeth. Two sets of canines are located on the upper jaw, and the final set is located on the lower jaw. They have recurved teeth in the back.

Temminck’s Fairy Wrasse can be found living in coastal reef settings with coral rubble as a substrate. When they feel danger, this fish is known to linger around small coral mounds or soft corals where they can easily hide. Even in clean oceanic reefs, some fish species can be seen on the quest for small meals, such as invertebrates. They can be found on the Indian Ocean, Red Sea, and Pacific Ocean reefs.

Tank Recommendations for Temmincks Fairy Wrasse

Fairy Wrasses require huge tanks to thrive and they also need the water to be cleaned on a regular basis. Filtration is important in any aquarium, but it is especially important in saltwater aquariums. A canister filter is significantly more potent than an internal filter or a hang-on-the-back filter system, therefore it's your best bet. Just make sure the model you choose is suitable for your tank's flow rate. A good rule of thumb is to make sure your filter can clean four times the aquariums volume of water. The absolute minimum tank size required for Temminck’s Fairy Wrasse is 400L.

The majority of Fairy Wrasses do not require a large number of items to complete their tank setup. The idea is to recreate their native environment. This can be accomplished by stocking the tank with a variety of living rocks and a sandy substrate.

Suitable Tank Buddies

Temminck’s Fairy Wrasses are normally cheerful fish who don't need to stick together in groups. Some of them prefer to be alone and do better when left alone. However, if you have more than one male of the same species, be cautious because they might get territorial. To avoid violence, Fairy Wrasses should be housed in a harem with many females and just one male. Also, be cautious when introducing new tankmates because they could become shocked and charge at them. Also, make sure the tank's lid is securely fastened, as tense conditions like these may cause the wrasse to jump out of the water.

Usually Compatible

Temminck's Fairy Wrasses, like all fairy wrasses, thrive in a reef tank with Angelfish (large), Boxfish, Damselfish, Fancy Damselfish, and Tangs, all of which are usually compatible to make an exceptionally serene aquarium tank.

Sometime Compatible

Frogspawn Corals, Damselfish, Gobies, Blennies, Pygmy Angelfish, and Cardinalfish are some of the fish species that are sometimes compatible with Fairy Wrasses.

Rarely Compatible

Large predatory fish are rarely compatible are Groupers, Lionfish, Pufferfish, larger Wrasse species, and a variety of Triggerfish species are all examples of this.

Feeding your Temminck’s Fairy Wrasse

The Temminck’s Fairy Wrasse is an energetic hunter who will not sit around waiting to be fed but will instead wander about hunting for food. One amazing thing about this fish is that it is quite easy to feed and will readily consume even fish meal pellets. It is strongly advised that the fish be fed enriched brine when they are first introduced to the aquarium. You can add Mysis shrimp or zooplankton to the fish once they've gotten adjusted to life in captivity. This is a food source that they will gladly consume.

Most Fairy Wrasse should be fed four to six times each day on average. Fairy Wrasses are carnivorous fish that require regular, little feedings. Once settled into the aquarium then a good routine is to feed pellets or flakes three times per day and live food twice per day.
