The Mono Argent has quite easily got to be one of the most intriguing fish in the aquarium hobby because of how it can thrive in a fresh, brackish, and saltwater setting. These fish are usually a go-to consideration when it comes to brackish water systems but in whatever type of tank they are kept in, the active nature, metallic colouration, and unique body shape make them really cool fish. These fish make for a great alternative to the more common South American silver dollar species and have very similar behavioral and diet traits.

beautiful fish but arrived sickI had already purchased five of these beautiful fish from live fish which arrived healthy and are living happy long lives. I decided to add 3 more to my tank and bought 3 more, unfortunately all 3 arrived looking pale and sickly, but were not DOA, however within 24 hours all 3 have died in my tank. Very sad, a bit expensive. My other original 5 fish are still going strong and are very lovely, gentle creatures.

African MonoBeautifull fish. The colour took a week to come to a high lustre silver shade and feeding my mono took patience as my mono took longer than the other fish to get a taste for flake food and worms, but now my mono is first in line at feeding time! I think it may have been the big trip to get here that may have stressed my mono. I have an 8 foot aqaurium and plenty of plants and hidy holes for the mono to establish a favourite area and also the other fish as well, so I find that this fish is quite calm and not territorial towards the other fish. I have just ordered another one today! Awesome beginner fish when you are just starting off:)

Loves Worms;) I have put this fish in with Angels, Gauramis, platys, Danios, Tetras,Bolivian Butterfly, and afew other similar sized and mild mannered fish with plenty of plants and hidy holes and the african mono is just happy and calm in the 8foot tank and I am not a fish person, and this is my first go at owning fish! Sensational Fish!I love this fish! I purchased it from LiveFish a couple of years ago and have them in a 6 foot tank. Pretty spectacular visually and a similar behavioural traits to a Silver Dollar in my experience... can be a little scatty when spooked (i.e. when cleaning tank etc). Great schooling fish and I found them quite hardy/tolerant of water conditions.

QuestionI must condemn poor Chaddling, obviously hasn't researched fish before purchase. I also have to question the tank setup? Was something not quite right? What did you feed them?
Too many people are buying fish nowadays solely on looks & then blame everyone else.
Come on, please research before purchase (& no I don't work or have anything to do with Live Fish), too many times I have gone in to help friends with their fish, only to find out that they bought the fish based solely on looks & never checked anything else out. Fish are animals, not ornaments.Posted on

Great looking fishAlso must strongly disagree with Chaddling, I have three of these in a community tank with a mix of African Cichlids, bristle noses, yoyo and clown loaches, golden suckers all get on fine and they look great!

10/10i wish to disagree with chaddling and i think this fish is awesome, it can live in seawater to almost freshwater. it is not very aggressive but will eat plants.
